Together, our stakeholders and residents live the mission to develop leaders and foster neighborhood networks that promote education, strengthen families, and build peace through social justice. \nTaste of Back of the Yards 2026
Scholarship Fundraiser\n<\/h3>
\n\u201cInteresting,\u201d the judge reflected, \u201cas we interviewed college students I realized some thought they were the only ones attending college in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.\u201d This past year, 14 judges ended up awarding 28 scholarships to 25 college and 3 high school students. They were very impressed by the conversations, the strength and hope expressed by the young people in the neighborhood.

It is time again to support students who dream of a higher education! On Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 the Peace and Education Coalition will host its 29th Annual Scholarship fundraiser. We will honor a previous scholarship recipient Mayra Macias and recognize the valuable work of Increase the Peace, a Back of the Yards non-profit working tirelessly to support our families and youth. Please consider a gift to support the fund, either through tickets or a sponsorship.
