Join the Peace and Education Coalition as we celebrate our 27th annual Scholarship Fundraiser, Saturday, May 4th, 12 Noon - 3 PM. The event, “A Taste of the Back of the Yards”, will be held this year at The Plant/Bubbly Dynamics, 1400 47th Street. We look forward to supporting the young people of our community with a dream of higher education, who also are engaged in volunteer service in the Back of the Yards. Last year, your generosity enabled us to award 23 scholarships.
This year we will honor previous Scholarship recipients who are actively advocating for the voice of the people residing in the Back of the Yards and surrounding communities. We are proud to recognize Cristina Galván, Yésica Vázquez and Adriana Velásquez for their service to the community.
The fundraiser will feature a raffle of gift baskets prepared by partner institutions, and also some special items to bid on. You will be welcomed by local youth leaders who will be on hand to share stories of the Back of the Yards.
Individual tickets are $50, but we encourage you to consider one of our Sponsorship options, or an additional donation. Tickets can be purchased and sponsorship can be purchased (sponsorships provided by April 24th will be included in printed program, otherwise they will be announced at the event).
